Last of the Rehab Love Series Videos! And it is Posterior Chain loosening - but there’s notable differences here to all our previous loosening work:
the Stretchband allows us to mobilise right up into the lumbar spine at the same time!
the Stretchband adds all the neural system into the stretching / mobility work - Sciatic right through to smaller nerves like the Common Peroneal nerve (tensioned when you twist your foot into inversion - you’ll see in the video).
So - especially with this video please make sure you have no existing “sciatica"! That’s the main thing to not aggravate. Many mild-moderate low back problems will actually love this mobility work, as will your posterior chain itself, as long as you don’t have existing sciatica. PLEASE remember that. Or else it might flare up a bit…
After this loosening work pay extra attention to your lumbar position during squats and deadlifts…really focus on maintaining lordosis so your deeper lumbar stabilisers get good a chance to activate and warm up. This older video from Rehab Vault shows you one such simple method you could even use the stretchband with, in order to activate Multifidus muscles in your back:
